My name is Laura and I am a stay-at-home mom & social media manager here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m married to my high school sweetheart and have 2 beautiful children, 6 and 7 years old. After having my 2nd child, I was overweight and unhappy with my squishy post-baby body, so I decided it was time to start getting back in shape.

Since I was already awake at 5am in newborn land, the leap to take a 6:30am boot camp class wasn’t so bad so I joined Oakland Adventure Boot Camp– my first class was in April 2007. Within the first month, I lost 45 pounds and got my mile time down from 14 minutes to 12 and just kept getting stronger and faster from there.

I stayed with boot camp for the next 2 and a half years but then decided it was time to switch it up, so I joined a gym, ran more, started racing, and haven’t stopped since.

I run for so many different reasons and am always challenging myself to push harder and run farther. I am not the fastest and really don’t care- my only competition is myself.  I cross the same finish line you do, and always win my personal race.

I started this blog as a way to document my adventures and thoughts in and around running as well as to inspire and motivate others- if I can do it, you can too.

Crossing the finish of my first marathon!

  1. Hi there! I just stumbled across your blog and wanted to say hi. I love your header! What a great idea to photograph all your medals together. The Oakland medal and the See Jane Run medals are my personal favorites because I ran those races too! Good luck with your running, goals, and blogging!

  3. Way to still get it done. I have so had these types of races (actually the Oakland half this year). But give your neck some healing time and you’ll get that PR in no time!

What do you think?
